Instagram Is Testing A New Way Of Sharing Private Posts With Close Friends

Instagram wants to take privacy to a deeper level and for that the platform is testing a new feature called Flipside. Instagram realises that most people like to create two accounts on the platform which allows them to have different profiles for work and friends. With Flipside, they can do it from one account.

Having this second profile allows you to keep it private to your special and close friends and only they can see the content posted in Flipside. The Meta-owned social app realises that people are seeking more privacy from the public, especially as their lives come on the radar for differing reasons.

Flipside is there to help them get that separation and share more personal content with the people they know very well. Anybody using Flipside can have a different profile picture, name and even their bio that allows them to be less polished than their public account. You will also have the power to remove everyone from this private profile and start afresh.

Instagram is testing the feature with a small group of users for now, so it is likely that the platform will have it publicly available in the coming months. Instagram says that to use Flipside the user needs to be 18 years or above which allows them to create a public and private profile using the same account.

The platform also points out that private posts are not available for business profiles which is hardly surprising to hear. It is encouraging to see Instagram really focus on the privacy aspect, and most of its users will happily lap up the new feature if and when it rolls out for everyone.
