New Delhi: Visa, the payments technology giant, recently unveiled Visa Safe Click (VSC), India’s first (first in-app device-based network authentication solution) frictionless payment solution for online commerce. Built exclusively for the Indian market, VSC will be launched this festive season across leading e-commerce merchants to provide online consumers a secure and seamless payment experience.

With its built-in network authentication capabilities, VSC will eliminate the need for One Time Passwords (OTP) for transactions below Rs 2,000 and significantly help improve payment success rates for e-commerce merchants in India.

T.R. Ramachandran, Group Country Manager, Visa India and South Asia said “The Indian e-commerce market is expected to reach US $1.2T by 2021. However, digital payment success rates are trending below 80%[3], resulting in suboptimal consumer experience and a significant revenue loss for the e-commerce industry. Thanks to the rapid growth of e-commerce, Indian e-commerce merchants are grappling with an ever-growing number of consumer issues such as cart abandonment, connectivity and incorrect passwords during the payment leg of their transaction.”

It transforms the payment experience into a faster and seamless one, allowing consumers to focus on their shopping while helping e-commerce merchants to improve their payment success rates,” he added

It may be noted Visa Safe Click is a lightweight, secure software plug-in for mobile app-based e-commerce merchants. It uses the global EMVco 3DS (3D Secure) protocol to register a card into the service. Additionally, for transactions up to Rs 2,000, shoppers do not need to enter an OTP as the solution uses cryptographic validation along with Visa’s global risk engine to authenticate each transaction.

By making the payment process simpler and faster, Visa Safe Click (VSC) will help merchants handle larger transaction volumes during peak sale periods. Its network-based authentication that rides on Visa’s network rails will give merchants the benefits of faster checkout time and more shopping carts getting fulfilled.
