Instagram To Soon Offer Polls In Comments Section: Here’s What We Know

It is no secret that Instagram’s comments section serves as a hub for various discussions—whether they involve funny memes about the latest trends or more serious topics demanding your attention. The platform allows users to engage in ongoing dialogues of sorts. It’s important to note that Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Instagram’s parent company Meta, has now announced that the popular social media app will support the ability to create and respond to polls in the comments section.

Announcing this via Meta’s official Instagram channel, the CEO stated that Instagram will introduce polls in a future version of the comments section. This development will undoubtedly benefit pep[ople who rely on data metrics—using contrasting viewpoints within conversations to gain more views and engagement.

It also suggests that Instagram aims to increase audience retention for posts, especially when compared to other rival platforms like X (formerly Twitter). Notably, X already has support for polls, but Musk said that that X was going to lock the ability to reply to polls without X Premium in March.

It isn’t clear as to when can we see the final rollout of the feature for the masses, but it is certainly going to make Instagram’s comments section quite an interesting place to be.

In related news, Instagram has also announced that users can now add music to their photo carousels. “Building off our launch of music for feed photos, anyone can add a song to capture the mood and bring their carousel to life,” Instagram said.
