Instagram users can now add music to their profiles: Here is how

Instagram has finally rolled out the song on a profile for its users. Previously, you were only allowed to add music to the post, but now the social media platform is exploring more. Starting today, Instagram will let users add a 30-second song to their profile bios. But it is noteworthy that the song will not autoplay when you open a profile like a high-grade celebratory card. You will have to click on the song to hear it.

How to add songs to your profile?

To add a song, users can visit the “edit profile” page, search for and choose a track from Instagram’s licensed music library (same as for Reels and posts), and then select a 30-second segment to feature on their profile. According to a screenshot shared by Instagram, the bio will add a category called Taste, where the selected song will feature. A song will remain on a user’s profile until they choose to delete or update it with a new one.

To promote the feature, Instagram has decided to collaborate with the Espresso singer, Sabrina Carpenter. To build anticipation for her album launch on Friday, Carpenter’s Instagram profile will now feature a sneak peek of an unreleased track, giving fans a first listen to new music. According to Instagram, the profile music feature offers an exclusive first listen to the unreleased song, providing a unique opportunity for fans to hear it before its official full release.

Instagram’s Notes can change colours

In addition to the add song to the profile feature, Instagram has also added colours to its Notes. The words “Demure”, “Cutesy”, “Considerate”, and “Mindful” have been pinpointed as the specific triggers that prompt the colour shift. Sending a message with these phrases can trigger a pink hue, but due to low colour saturation, the tone often appears more off-white than vibrant pink, depending on the screen’s quality.

Following the brief availability of gold notes in a previous feature, which was later discontinued, the pink colour option was introduced. Reports confirmed that the gold notes feature was removed, and users could no longer use specific keywords to achieve the gold colour.
