Aadhaar Card Free Update Deadline: The clock is ticking! If you haven’t updated your Aadhaar details yet, now is the perfect time. Whether it’s your address, name, or date of birth that needs adjusting, you can do it quickly and easily from the comfort of your home—free of charge. But don’t wait too long; the deadline is approaching fast!
Originally set for June 14, 2024, the deadline was extended to September 14, 2024, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). After this date, you will have to pay a fee to update your Aadhaar card.
Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number based on biometric and demographic data, is crucial for various services requiring OTP authentication. It plays a vital role in preventing duplicate and fraudulent identities, ensuring that each resident has a unique number linked to their biometrics.
For those whose Aadhaar was issued over 10 years ago and hasn’t been updated, the UIDAI recommends submitting proof of identity and address documents to improve the accuracy of your demographic information. This update enhances service delivery and ensures higher authentication success rates.
How to Update Aadhaar Details Online:
Step 1: First, visit the UIDAI Website: www.uidai.gov.in and select the preferred language.
Step 2: Click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ option and choose ‘Update Your Aadhaar’ from the menu.
Step 3: After that, users will be redirected to the ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ page. Then, click on ‘Document Update.’
Step 4: After reaching the page, users will have to enter their UID number and the Captcha code. Then, click on ‘Send OTP’ and users will receive a one-time password on their registered mobile number.
Step 5: Once the OTP has been entered, users will have to click on ‘Login’.
Step 6: Choose the demographic details that the user wants to update (name, address, date of birth, etc.) and fill in the new information accurately.
Step 7: Once the necessary changes have been made, users will have to click on ‘Submit’ and upload scanned copies of the required documents.
Step 8: In the end, click on ‘Submit Update Request.’ After that, users will receive an Update Request Number (URN) via SMS to track the status of their request.
Biometric details like iris scans, fingerprints, and facial photographs cannot be updated online. Additionally, changes to your date of birth and gender are limited to one update each.
If you prefer to update your details offline, download the Aadhaar enrolment form from the UIDAI website, fill it out, and submit it along with the necessary documents at your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra.
During your visit, your biometric information will be collected, and you’ll receive an acknowledgment slip containing the Update Request Number (URN) to track the status of your update.
Make sure to update your Aadhaar details before the new deadline to avoid any inconvenience in accessing services that require Aadhaar authentication.
